Mosquito-Borne Illness

Chikungunya is an illness caused by a virus spread through mosquito bites. Similar to other illnesses such as malaria, dengue and West Nile. While Chikungunya infected mosquitos are more often found in places like Latin America, Africa, and Asia, there is an increasing risk that infected mosquitos will be brought to new areas by travelers

The Study:

  • AMR Knoxville is currently seeking healthy adults ages 18 to 45 to participate in a chikungunya vaccine research study.

Qualified Participants:

  • Are 18-45 years of age
  • Are in otherwise good health
  • Meet other study criteria

If you qualify and participate, you will receive:

  • All study-related medical care at no cost
  • Lab tests
  • Investigational vaccine or placebo

Compensation is available for time and travel up to $1,100. Insurance is not required.
